What is
EFT?
Emotional Freedom Technique does not mean it
helps you to get rid of your emotions, to be free and
null and void of all feeling. Instead, it is a simple
tool that everyone can use to help allow themselves to
not be so overwhelmed by intense emotions that can
sometimes take over our minds and bodies and not let us
function as healthily as we would like. A little niggle
can sometimes turn into worry that can start to churn
over and over in our heads until it becomes this
constant dis-ease, preventing us from enjoying what is
real and present. Thoughts can then affect our
behaviours which, in turn, can also affect the people
around us. One single event (or several incidents of
similar content), or something we were told, can lead to
an anxiety we feel we have no control over or a belief
about ourselves that can limit our potential. Things can
really 'get to us'; each of us are affected by different
things and in different ways. We are of course only
human; we have a multitude of emotions and life has its
ups and downs, but sometimes our bodies (without being
aware of it) can not deal efficiently with what it is
presented with.
If we didn't
release the emotion at the time or soon after the event
(an event which may not even appear to be traumatic), it
can remain blocked in our body's energy system. If
there is a blockage or disruption in the flow of that
energy, due to the event (injury, stress, or a variety
of other factors), the body is out of balance, and prone
to illness, pain and mental and emotional disturbance,
for example, phobias. EFT can help release these
blockages by tapping gently with your fingertips on some
of the energy meridian (acupuncture) points on the face
and upper body whilst focussing on the intense feeling,
sensation or memory. Tapping on these points send
signals to the brain allowing the emotional part of the
brain to calm down and allow the rational part of the
brain to make more sense of the feeling, thus making it
more manageable and acceptable. Shifting energy changes
the way the brain processes information about a
particular issue, so tapping, whilst tuned into the
issue, is like rewiring or re-routing the brain’s
conditioned negative response. The energy system becomes
more balanced and our bodies more able to cope.
EFT was developed
in the 1990's, founded by Gary Craig who had previously
trained with psychologist Dr Roger Callahan in the early
years of Thought Field Therapy. There is a lot of
information on Gary Craig's official website

When I first heard
about 'tapping', I was rather sceptical but willing to
experience it with a very experienced Master Trainer of
EFT. I was so impressed by the effect it had on me that
I became hooked and wanted to do more and more, and
wanted to train so that I could pass this wonderful tool
onto others. EFT is such a simple process that anyone
can do it and the great thing is, you don’t have to
'believe' in it for it to work, and you don't have to
know why you are feeling low or anxious ..... eft just
does its work! I still find the whole thing a bit
bizarre and I don't like hearing the extravagant claims
and hype on the internet, but it has worked well for my
own issues and I see a wonderful, positive impact on
many others. (Please see Testimonial page.)
How I work?
Well, I don’t just dive in there and get to the most
horrific incident that happened to you, and it doesn't
take weeks of 'digging' into the past. You don't need to
know the cause of the problem, and you don't need to
re-live distressing events to work on reducing the
effects they have had. It's important to me that you
feel you can trust me and feel safe. We talk, but mainly
we tap whilst saying words that focus on your feelings
or physical sensations, and it includes stating
affirmations towards accepting the way that you feel. A
number of sessions with me may be required to deal with
your issue, or it may well be resolved in just one
session. I can teach you the technique and you can
practice it yourself at home. Sessions are confidential
and in the first instance I will ask you to fill in an
intake form so that I can see if your issue is something
I can help you with and if you want to talk more about
it, feel free to
CONTACT
me. |
